Action Plan of China-Latin America Agricultural Education and Research Innovation Alliance

 

In order to better integrate into the Belt and Road construction and create cooperation with agricultural science and education in Latin America, South China Agricultural University and Latin American related agricultural universities and research institutes will carry out close cooperation in the fields of talent training, joint scientific research, technical training, modern agricultural technology demonstration parks, and uphold the spirit of silk road which is peaceful cooperation, openness and tolerance, mutual learning and mutual learning, mutual benefit and win-win . The following action plan is proposed:

1. Development of talent and teaching staff training projects: exchange of undergraduate students, postgraduate research projects, exchange of teachers etc.

According to the will of both sides, some specific educational cooperation agreements shall be signed among alliance members. Such as  agreements of joint undergraduate student education, student exchange or mobility program and other activities; Based on some different levels of scholarship programs, try to expand the scale of foreign students; try to explore the establishment of mutual recognition of credits, joint degree teaching mechanism; try to conduct the teachers exchange programs, in order to jointly develop professional courses in the field of agriculture.

2. Strengthening Research Efforts and Exploring the Establishment of Joint Research Centers.

To carry out scientific research and research projects in accordance with the needs of cooperation countries and universities, especially in the fields of crop cultivation, fruit and vegetable cultivation, healthy breeding of aquaculture and poultry, animal disease prevention and control, agricultural machinery, intelligent agriculture, facility agriculture, new materials, new energy, ecological environment protection, food safety, etc., and to establish joint laboratories, research institutes or research centers when the timing is appropriate.

3. Strengthening professional and practical technical training

South China Agricultural University relies on China International Agricultural training Center and Asia Pacific Sericulture Training Center to implement international training projects for Latin American countries. Under the framework of the Alliance's cooperation, practical skills training will be organized to be conducted for agricultural officials, professional farmers and agricultural technicians in accordance with the actual needs of the member countries. Try to seek the necessary funding to carry out sustainable  practical technical training courses supported by the government, enterprises and other resources.

4. Development of International Joint Education Cooperation between China and Latin-America

On the basis of joint education, scientific research cooperation and technical training, and based on regional and climatic characteristics, the two sides explore the potential possibilities for cooperation in running schools, in order to further strengthen cooperation between the two sides, and win the support of the two governments and to encourage some powerful enterprises to  participate in the construction of cooperative schools.

5. Expansion of Scientific and Cultural Exchange between China and Latin America

 To encourage the organization and realization of some activities such as the Forum for Cooperation in Science and Technology in Agricultural Education and the Forum of Heads of members universities to carry out academic exchanges; to jointly establish demonstration platforms for technology extension and promote the transformation of scientific research achievements and technology extension; to organize activities such as knowledge competitions, cultural experiences, sports competitions, cultural and art festivals; and to encourage the two sides to carry out collaborative research on laws and policies related to agriculture, so as to provide decision-making suggestions for various governments about the development and perfection of laws and policies related to agriculture in different countries.

6. Cooperation of other areas of mutual interest.
