The Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh) is a distinguished Latin American academic institution with more than 60 years of experience educating professionals who are highly competitive at both the national and international levels.
UACh is among the top five universities nationwide, and it is a pioneer in delivering knowledge and culture in harmony with the environment, drawing from the unique natural surroundings of the 4 cities of Chilean Patagonia where its campuses are located: Valdivia, Osorno, Puerto Montt, and Coyhaique.
The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, which are underpinned by high-level research and development in the following areas: natural sciences, engineering and technology, medical sciences and human health, agriculture and forest sciences, and social sciences and humanities.
Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences
The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences of the Universidad Austral de Chile was created in 1954, sharing its origins with the university itself. Since that time, robust efforts in research and the education of highly skilled professionals in the areas of agronomy and food engineering have promoted and reinforced the development of agricultural production in southern Chile.
From the outset, this faculty was powerful and determined in pursuing its goal of rural development, both agricultural and agro-industrial, with a proactive and integrated vision of contributing to society, to people, and to the preservation of the natural environment and its resources.
In addition to a wide range of undergraduate programs, the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences offers graduate programs in the areas of animal production, plant science, soil science, and food science. It also participates in the multidisciplinary Master of Rural Development program. These programs have had notable success and have long attracted large numbers of Chilean and foreign students alike, especially from other countries in South and Central America.
