Qiu Rongliang

Qiu Rongliang, native of Xinghua, Jiangsu Province, was born in 1967. He took his first job in July 1992. He is now Professor, PhD supervisor and Vice President at South China Agricultural University.

 

Qiu graduated from Nanjing Agricultural University with a PhD degree in Soil Chemistry in 1992. From 1992 to 1999, he worked from lecturer to associate professor at the Department of Environmental Science, Sun Yat-sen University. He was promoted to be Professor and PhD supervisor in 2001. Before that, from 1999 to 2000, he was a visiting professor at University of Maryland, USA and from March to August 2000, he worked in Environmental Chemistry Lab,USDA-ARS as a visiting scientist. In October 2008, he was appointed Associate Dean in Graduate School, Sun Yat-sen University and from May 2012 to December 2019, he became Dean of School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Sun Yat-sen University.

 

Qius research focuses on plant-chemistry-microbe remediation of heavy metal contaminated soil, Chemical remediation and bioremediation of organic pollution in soil and water environment. He presides over 60 national and ministerial research projects and publishes over 330 papers including over 180 indexed by SCI. He is also entitled to 28 national patents.  He was selected into the “Thousand-Hundred-Ten Talent Project” of Guangdong Province in 1996 and winner of Pearl River Scholar Program.


He was at the same time Standing Member of Heavy Metal Pollution and Control Committee, Environmental Science Society of China; Guest Professor at Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine, FranceStanding Member, Soil Chemistry and Biochemistry Committee of Soil Science Society of China, and Standing Member, Environmental and Chemical Geography Committee, Geographical Society of China, and Member of Scientific Application Specialist Committee, Chinese Lunar Exploration Program


He held editorial position at Chinese Journal of Applied EcologyChinese Journal of Environmental ScienceJournal of Agro-Environment ScienceEcological Environment and so forth.
