Scientific and technological cooperation in agriculture, which is the foundation for social development, is of great significance for the strategic development between China and Latin American countries. In recent years, led by SCAU, the China-Latin America Agricultural Education and Research Innovation Alliance (abbreviated as “CLAERIA”) has been forging ahead and playing an active role in the innovation of agriculture-related technological cooperation. We hope that Chinese and Latin Amecian people from all walks of life in Guangdong will work together to enhance the exchanges and cooperation to a new level, Cang Feng said.
Mr. Denisse, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Republic of Cuba in Guangzhou, said that China and Latin America both have a long history and their relationship in the new era has become a model of South-South cooperation. In the past two years, in accordance with the Belt and Road Initiative, members of the CLAERIA have achieved fruitful results by deepening their practical cooperation. We hope that on this basis, China-Latin America embassies and consulates, universities and research institutions will continue to deepen their cooperation to benefit the two peoples.
During the meeting, Professor Ni Genjin from the College of Humanities and Law introduced the history of agricultural exchange between China and Latin America; Professor Chen Wenpin and Professor Chen Guoju from the College of Horticulture explained the relevant traditional Chinese cultural knowledge around tea and flower-pressing respectively, engaging the guests into traditional Chinese culture. Liang Shun, from Sociedad de Beneficencia China, introduced the story of overseas Chinese helping develop agriculture in Peru.
Since the establishment of the CLAERIA in December 2020, SCAU has received the attention and support from the Office of Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and the consulates of Latin American countries in Guangzhou. Over the past two years, under the framework of the CLAERIA, SCAU has made fruitful cooperation achievement by improving the network of agricultural education and research cooperation with Latin America. In the future, on the advantages of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the its academic strength,it will continue to enrich the connotation and practice of cooperation in agricultural education and research between China and Latin America, adhere to “Tell China's Stories and Convey China's Voice”and promote the high-quality development of international agriculture in Guangdong Province.
