Dr. Xin-Yuan Huang is a professor of College of Resources and Environmental Sciences, Nanjing Agricultural University, China. He is working on the identification of QTLs/genes that control the accumulation of essential mineral nutrients in rice grains, including calcium, iron, zinc and selenium, and breeding of biofortified rice varieties with essential mineral nutrients enriched in grains. He is also working on the dissection of molecular mechanisms underlying the accumulation of heavy metals such cadmium and arsenic in rice, and developing biological remediation technique to prevent the accumulation of toxic heavy metals in eating parts of crops. Research in his group also covers the genetic and epigenetic regulation of sulfur homeostasis in plants. He has published more than 30 papers in international journals including Nature Communications, Genes & Development, Molecular Plant, and awarded three Chinese patents and one international patent.
