The Universidad Nacional (UNA), Costa Rica, is a higher education public institution established in 1973. It was founded on the educational experiences of the Escuela Normal (1914), addressed to the education of primary school teachers, and the Escuela Normal Superior (1968), committed to training teachers for secondary education schools. Currentlyit has almost 20.000 students. It is composed by 8 Colleges, 8 Campuses and 13 Research Institutes. They include all disciplinary fields and are located not only in the Central valley of the country but on the North, South and Caribbean regions.

The foregoing is reflected, among others, in 665 active projects and 26 indexed magazines, the vast majority of which respond to an opportunity, need or problem of a social group, the Costa Rican State and / or the productive sector and which also constitute an alternative space for the complementary training of the student population through the experiences and skills developed under the framework of these projects.
